Biography

Emad Emam is a development planner and adult educator with over 18 years of experience supporting civil society across the MENA region and beyond. He specializes in designing evaluations and facilitating learning on social accountability, governance, fiscal transparency, gender-responsive services, and SRHR, with a focus on power-conscious and participatory approaches. 

Currently, Emad serves as the Senior Program Officer - MENA at the International Budget Partnership, leading the Building Alliance for Budget Accountability initiative. His work focuses on strengthening CSOs' capacity for budget advocacy and fostering collaboration with governments, oversight institutions, and parliaments to promote accountable public budgeting and enhance civil society’s voice in decision-making processes. 

Throughout his career, he has championed efforts to amplify people’s voices and collective power, and led impactful research and advocacy projects. Emad’s experience spans countries such as Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Libya, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Iraq, Yemen, Turkey, and Afghanistan, bringing a nuanced understanding of socio-political contexts to his work.
