Government budgets are key instruments through which public resources are mobilized, allocated, and spent.
For young people, while budget processes are often perceived as technical and inaccessible, understanding budgets is especially important, as decisions on education, employment, health, and social protection directly impact their opportunities and future as taxpayers.
This workshop is designed to enhance the capacity of UNICEF Youth Advisory Group members to engage effectively in fiscal policy and budgetary processes and to advocate for the equitable allocation of public resources.
It will provide participants with a foundational understanding of public finances and the budget in shaping policies and delivering essential services, practical competencies in reviewing and interpreting budget documents, and insights into the strategic role of youth participation throughout the budget cycle.
