Government budgets are key instruments through which public resources are mobilized, allocated, and spent.
For young people, while budget processes are often perceived as technical and inaccessible, understanding budgets is especially important, as decisions on education, employment, health, and social protection directly impact their opportunities and future as taxpayers.
The awareness sessions are designed to enhance the capacity of UNICEF Youth Advisory Group members to engage effectively in fiscal policy and budgetary processes and to advocate for the equitable allocation of public resources.
This workshop will provide participants with a foundational understanding of public finance, practical competencies in reviewing and interpreting budget documents, and insights into the strategic role of youth in advancing advocacy, accountability, and inclusive governance.
